13th CHARLIE MILLER ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
THE
The 13th Charlie Miller Achievement Awards burst into life much to the delight of staff and management with a loud and lively rendition of Lady Gaga’s ‘Born this Way’. Performed by surprise compere, entertainer and vocalist, Edward Reid, the former Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist wound his way through the tables before formally opening the evening.
An 8-hour night of glitz and glamour with celebrations going on until the small hours, the Charlie Miller group enjoyed a pre-dinner drinks reception, a 3-course meal and 40-prize tombola before the winners of all 23 Charlie Miller Achievement Awards were announced and presented to the highly charged audience.
Held to recognise and reward individuals who have shown excellence in their achievements in the previous year this annual event took place in Edinburgh’s Apex International Hotel in the Grassmarket earlier this month. The company’s Grand Prix trophy for ‘Outstanding Hairdresser of the Year’ was awarded to Salon Director, Richard Beggs who also picked up awards for ‘Client Retention of the Year’ and ‘Senior Head Stylist of the Year’.
Two long service awards were affectionately announced and presented by Charlie Miller: the first to Amber Lennie who celebrates 20 years with the company whilst Company Director, Ian Blyth knocks up an incredible 40 years. Ian and Amber received standing ovations as they received personal gifts for their loyal service and dedication.
On accepting his award Ian shared some words of wisdom with the staff: “I’ve had an amazing journey and you are all in such a great position today and, believe me, very lucky to work with such an innovative and creative company. As many of you know, there is so much to learn and the more you give, the more you undoubtedly get back”.
The inaugural ‘Janet Miller Award For Outstanding Effort’ was presented by Josh Miller to members of the Ocean Terminal team (Emma Wallace, Denise Brown, Karen Jones, Tammy Waugh, Neil Purves) who were made temporary managers and looked after the running of the salon for 3 months in the absence of their Manager and Assistant Manager who were on maternity leave at the same time.
